Long-distance move from Washington DC to New York

Broke our furniture, lied about, and refused to pay

They broke our $1,000 bed frame, then lied that they didn't actually disassemble it and claimed it was already in poor condition based on the photos we sent them of the damage they caused! They then refused to pay either the replacement cost or even the insurance coverage we paid for. Their customer service was non-responsive and their claims department committed fraud. Do not ever use this company!

AWSEOME AWESOME TEAM!

I want to express my gratitude to District Relocators for making the moving process a smooth one. If I ever have to move again, I'm confident it will be them. They are punctual, excellent communicators, and provide a point of contact to help you get a fair quote and understand the steps involved in the moving process. They even follow up with calls before the moving day, on the moving day itself, and afterward to ensure everything is going smoothly. Thank you, District Relocators, and thank you for being an awesome local business.

Fail to compensate for damage during move.

The movers for District Relocators damaged a wine rack while transporting the piece to a new apartment. A furniture refinisher hired by the company was unable to restore the furniture to our satisfaction. A picture of the repair was sent to the claims department along with a request for them to contact us. Weeks went by with no response to our follow-up emails and phone calls directed to the claims department. Eventually the Mid-Atlantic BBB was contacted for assistance.

Terrible move

I have moved every 1-2 years over the last 20 years due to work and this was the worst move I have ever had. This is a shame as I have used District Relocators in the past and was very satisfied. However, this move was unorganized from the beginning as they kept pressuring me to change my moving time outside of the time frame provided when booking the move. I finally agreed as they were just supposed to prepare and wrap the furniture in my apartment since I didn't have the freight elevator reserved, but instead they stole the freight elevator from someone else and began moving my things anyway. The movers were completely unprofessional. Due to their neglect there was significant damage to my household goods, many boxes destroyed as well as numerous broken items. They also put a huge gouge in my living room floor when moving the sofa. I purchased several wardrobe boxes and the movers were so careless that bar and clothes were all at the bottom of those boxes which completely defeats the purpose. The really sad part is that despite being a loyal customer and voicing my concerns they put me off for months and then offered $75 compensation. I expressed that after being a loyal customer for years and I would remain a customer if they would just make things right with a more reasonable offer of compensation (perhaps $250) and they said they would review it and get back to me. Despite several follow-ups they never responded. Therefore, despite their reasonable prices I will not use this company again and I would warn you to be cautious as well. Some of the movers are great and others are unprofessional and neglectful and the company clearly does not care.

Moving Experience

From start to finish, the experience couldn't have been better. Thank you to Tony for his patience in explaining every aspect of the move, regardless of how many times we called with questions. And special thanks to all the drivers and movers on both ends (NYC/Bethesda) who were professional and caring beyond our expectations.

Terrible experience - do not use.

The worst moving experience I have ever had. Do not use this company. They moved me in July, damaged most of my furniture and lost some of my boxes. I had paid for the protection but they will not return my calls or reply to emails. Corey and Linda if you are reading this please reply to my claims emails. Have reported to the Better Business Bureau where they already have several complaints filed against them.

They did a good Job.

I hired them based on a referral I got from a co worker at my job. I moved from an apartment to a house in N.E DC. I was looking for a decent moving company who was professional but yet cost effective based on my budget. The Crew came on time, they even brought free boxes and gave me 50 dollars off. They loaded my goods on their truck and everything went ok.

Uneventful, boring, perfect moving experience.

I reached out to District Relocators about a week before my move.  I was quoted a reasonable price for a 3-man crew without any attempts to upsell (eg, 4-man team, picture boxes, wardrobe boxes, extra tape, etc.).  The movers showed up and finished on schedule.  Pretty uneventful, which is how the best moves always are.  Ask for Dirk or Chris, they've been with the Company a while and take their jobs seriously.  I intend to go with District Relocators for my next move.

Stay Away

This one of the rudest companies I have dealt with. I highly advise that anyone considering working with them stay away. There were several logistical concerns with what they proposed us. For example, they wanted to access to our home for packing on a weekday when we were working at the office so they could fit in other mothers on our moving day. On our moving day, they wanted to carry the furniture down the stairs because our freight elevator was not available during the only 2 hour time frame that worked for them, despite us having booked them for a 4 hour time frame.

Beyond the above, the greatest concern with this company was the tone they used during our interactions. From the minute I first introduced myself to them on the phone and explained our concerns I was met with hostility and rude responses - they also said "it's not a problem we know what we are doing" without giving simple explanations or answers to my questions. I explained that if I did not understand some of the logistics behind it I would be concerned about continuing with them. They told me to find other movers and ended the call.

Long-distance move from Arlington, VA to Philadelphia, PA

Two-for-Two great, efficient service

I used these folks back in 2016 for a move from DC --> NJ and had great experience, so I used them again for a move from DC --> Philly. Tony is super nice and accomodating. The team is incredibly efficient. They packed and unpacked our 750 sq ft apartment in less than 90 minutes. They also accomodated a difficult move (spiral staircase, split level apartment). For the price, it was great service. We didn't expect a perfect move becasue of the difficulty of hoisting the stuff over the railing, but there was surprisingly minimal damage. Only one handle on an old dresser came off (can be screwed back on easily), and our old box spring broke after we unpacked it. Hard to say this was the fault of the movers, or a combination of other factors. Otherwise,no damage. All things considered, we were extremely satisfied with the job. Would highly recommend.
